Shoulder Pain

Shoulder pain does not have to control how you move, lift, sleep, or live.

Shoulder pain can make everyday movements feel difficult — reaching overhead, lifting objects, getting dressed, driving, exercising, working, or even sleeping comfortably.

You may have been told your shoulder pain is related to arthritis, inflammation, tendon problems, rotator cuff issues, bursitis, joint degeneration, or an old injury. You may have also tried cortisone injections, pain medication, physical therapy, stretching, rest, or other treatments that only helped temporarily.

At Pain Free Orlando, we look at how your shoulder pain is affecting your ability to function and whether a non-surgical care plan may be appropriate for your condition.

This may sound familiar.

You may feel shoulder pain when lifting your arm, reaching overhead, putting on a shirt, reaching behind your back, carrying groceries, exercising, driving, working, or sleeping on your side.

Maybe the pain started slowly. Maybe it began after an injury. Maybe it has been getting worse over time.

You may have already tried:

  • Cortisone injections

  • Pain medication

  • Anti-inflammatory medication

  • Physical therapy

  • Stretching

  • Rest

  • Ice or heat

  • Massage

  • Chiropractic care

  • Avoiding certain movements

  • Waiting to see if it improves

Some people get temporary relief, but the pain returns. Others are told they may need surgery, even though they are worried about taking that step.

If that sounds like you, it may be time to take one more objective look.

Why shoulder pain may keep coming back

Shoulder pain is not always just a shoulder problem.

The pain may be connected to inflammation, arthritis, tendon or ligament irritation, rotator cuff issues, joint degeneration, poor movement patterns, past injury, or how your body is compensating when you lift, reach, work, or sleep.

In some cases, shoulder pain may also affect the neck, upper back, arm, or hand because the shoulder is closely connected to how the rest of the upper body moves.

When the underlying issue is not addressed, temporary treatments may only help for a short time.

That does not mean surgery is your only option. It means the next step should be understanding what may be contributing to the pain before making any decisions.

The traditional route vs. our approach

Many people with shoulder pain are offered medication, cortisone injections, therapy, rest, or told to avoid certain activities until the problem becomes severe enough for surgery.

Those options may help some people. But if your pain keeps coming back, you may want to know whether there is another path before making a major decision.

At Pain Free Orlando, we take time to understand your shoulder pain, your history, what you have already tried, and how the pain is affecting your life.

From there, our Care Team will help determine whether a non-surgical, therapeutic and regenerative approach may be right for you.

How we help

Our approach is not based on a generic package.

If we believe we may be able to help, our Care Team will consider your condition, your level of pain, your mobility, your previous treatments, and your goals.

For some patients, the goal is reaching overhead with less pain. For others, it is sleeping better, lifting comfortably, returning to exercise, working without constant discomfort, avoiding surgery, or getting back to normal daily life.

Before making any recommendations, we will explain what we are seeing, what the next step may be, and whether you may be a good candidate for care.

Am I a candidate?

You may be a candidate if shoulder pain is affecting how you lift, reach, sleep, work, exercise, drive, or enjoy your daily life.

You may also be a candidate if:

  • You have tried injections, medication, therapy, stretching, rest, or other temporary treatments

  • Your pain keeps coming back

  • You have difficulty lifting your arm or reaching overhead

  • You have pain when sleeping on your side

  • You have stiffness or limited range of motion

  • You were told your pain may be related to arthritis, rotator cuff issues, inflammation, or degeneration

  • You were told surgery may be the next step

  • You want one more objective look before considering surgery

  • You want to know whether a non-surgical care plan may make sense

The consultation exists to help answer that question.

If we believe we may be able to help, we will explain the next step clearly. If we are not the right fit, we will point you in the right direction.
